Hydroponic Rockwool

Description. rockwool can hold large quantities of water and air that aid root growth and nutrient uptake in hydroponics; the fibrous nature also provides a good mechanical structure to hold the plant stable.it is used primarily for drip hydroponic systems.. Rockwool is commonly associated with advanced hydroponics like flood and drain, nft, and dwc. however, it’s a pretty versatile substrate and works well with top feeding from drip irrigation to hand-watering.. Since rockwool holds 10-14 times as much water as soil and retains 20 percent air it can be used in just about any hydroponic system. although the gardener must be careful of the ph, since rockwool has a ph of 7.8 it can raise the ph of the nutrient solution..

Several hydroponic growers believe rockwool is the best indoor growing medium in hydroponics. experts suggesting growers to remember few points when using rockwool growing medium.. Rockwool, also known as stonewool, is perfect for seed starting, ebb and flow systems, and drip irrigation hydroponic systems due to its inert properties and the fact that it does not absorb water - leaving it available to the plants for growth and development.. Rockwool, also known as stone wool or mineral wool, is the most widely used substrate for the commercial production of hydroponic tomatoes. it is also a great tool for smaller growers who can benefit just as much from its use in a range of different systems and situations..
